Pursuant to the direction of the Planning Board at their March 23, 2004 meeting, a series of public
workshops have been scheduled conceming the demolition of architecturally significant single family
homes in Miami Beach. The first workshop will be held on Monday, May 3, 2004, at 6:00 P.M., at
the Normandy Shores Golf Course Clubhouse, the second will be on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at
6:00 P.M. in the first floor auditorium of the Miami Beach Police Department, and the third will be on
Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. in the auditorium of Nautilus Middle School.
The following general topics will be discussed at these public workshops:
. Proposed amendments to the City Code pertaining to the protection of architecturally
significant single family homes;
. Incentives for the retention and preservation of existing single family homes;
. The process for renovating existing single family homes and strategies to address the
requirements of the Building Code.
Attached, please find a copy of the agenda for these public workshops. The Planning Board will be
taking up the final version of the proposed Ordinance regarding the Single Family Residential
Review Board at their May 25, 2004 meeting. It is anticipated that such Ordinance will come before
the City Commission in June or July.
