Kickoff of M iam i B each O nStage!
T he p u rp o se of th is Le tter to the Commission ("LT C") is to provide a recap of the first tw o
seasons of Miami Beach OnStage! as we kickoff the 2023 season.
M iami Beach OnStage!, the city's largest free outdoor performing and visual arts program
with live performances and site-specific temporary art installations in Miami Beach's
beautiful parks, pedestrian streets, and other unexpected locations, is back for a third
season. These culturally diverse performances include music, movies, dance, and art.
Created from the additional cultural programming funding approved by the Mayor and City
Commission in June 2021, events took place in Collins Park, Lummus Park, Normandy
Plaza, Scott Rakow Youth Center, Lincoln Road, Pride Park, Collins Canal Park, Muss
Park, Altos Del Mar Park, Soundscape Park, Harry Liebman Square, and Espanola Way.
Miami Beach OnStage! is produced in partnership with local cultural presenters, including
Miami Beach Jewish Film Festival, South Beach Jazz Festival, Miami Beach Classical
Music Festival, O, Miami, Community Arts and Culture, and Global Arts.
Through the various events, Miami Beach OnStage! has provided 67 free programs to
almost 6,000 residents to date. We are now pleased to announce the Summer 2023 Miami
Beach OnStage! schedule programming.

perform ances by C ortadito, Nestor Torres, and DJ Le Spam . Cortadito is a dynam ic
ensem ble that perform s traditional Cuban m usic of the early tw entieth century . Miami's
P uerto Rican-born jazz flautist Nestor Torres is renow n fo r his dazz ling m usicianship and
captivating m ix of Latin jazz, and pop sounds. DJ Le Spam will bring his unique VW bus
experience and spin records from his encyclopedic collection.

is a bilingual band, recognized fo r their high energy perform ances and fusion of reggae,
funk, cum bia, salsa, and ro ck. Electric Piquete is a Latin funk/ fusion band from Miam i
best know n fo r its fiery originals & inventive interpretations of Latin and jazz standards.
M r. PA UER ro unds things out by spinning his signature "El ectr~p ico", an electronic
dance m usic mix of genres originating betw een the Tro pic of Cancer and Tropic of

Garcia. Born in Spain to a Cuban father and Irish mother, Javier Garcia is a composer,
arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer who performs in the realms of funk,
reggae, world, funk, and Cuban rhythms.

Miami Beach OnStage! in partnership with the Global Arts Project presents Gafieira Rio
Miami, an 11-piece Brazilian big band created by Diogo Brown. Gafieira Rio Miami fuses
samba, jazz and soul inspired by the joyous, 20th century Rio de Janeiro ballroom dance
music known as "samba de gafieira".

Tango Dreams
Miami Beach OnStage! in partnership with the Global Arts Project kicks-off Hispanic
Heritage Month with a presentation of Tango Dreams. Through his organic and uncertain
improvisational approach, coupled with individual virtuosity, Anibal Berraute's tango
fusion delivers an exciting experience that keeps the audience on the edge of their
seats.
