T he purpose of this Letter to Com m ission is to announce that the O ffice of Marketing &
C om m unications, in partnership with the Econom ic Developm ent Departm ent, have won the
2023 Florida M unicipal Achievem ent Aw ard fo r Economic Advancem ent for the M ake a B old
M o v e business attraction cam paign.
T his cam paign w as developed to entice business leaders and entrepreneurs to relocate to
Miam i Beach and/or expand their existing operations, with the goal of attracting technology and
financial serv ice businesses, creating high-skilled / high-wage jobs for new and existing
residents, and filling vacant office spaces. The cam paign showcases why Miami Beach is a
business comm unity like no other, by highlighting the city's unique lifestyle assets including arts
and culture, health and wellness, warm w eather and fam ily friendly neighborhoods. M ake A
B o ld M o v e is a w elcom e call to com panies that M iami Beach provides an environment where
team s can live a full life outside of work, and where work culture and workplace can be
balanced.
T he cam paign w as gee-targeted to hit the key geographical m arkets of Silicon Valley, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Connecticut and South Florida markets
outside Miam i-Dade County, w ith an industry fo cus on technology, private equity, hedge funds,
and other financial serv ices firm s. It included paid and organic social m edia (Facebo ok, IG ,
Tw itter, R eddit, YouTube, Li nkedln), G oogle ads, search engine optimization, and digital ad
placem ents. It ran betw een June and O ctober 2022 with a media budget of $43,430.47 and
realized 5,803,4 33 unique im pressions. W ith continuous optimization of keyw ord targeting, the
'C ost Per C lick" (C PC) decreased from $3.68 I click at the onset of the campaign to $0.34 CPC
in the final months.
The cam paign show cased Miam i Beach as the destination of choice for new and emerging tech
and financial serv ices com panies. Som e of the com panies making a bold move have included
Andreessen Horo w itz (a16z), Pretium , BTIG , G eneral Atlantic, SiriusXM , Pennant Park and
S iebert Financial Corp, the latter moving into the Art Deco Cultural District. The campaign has
enhanced the aw areness of Miam i Beach's business assistance programs including the job
creation incentive pro gram , and the expedited plan review and permitting pro grams.

Started in 2009, the Florida Municipal Achievement Awards program provides Florida's cities
with an opportunity to receive recognition for superior and innovative efforts in four categories:
Economic Advancement, Environmental Stewardship, Local Action, and Public Engagement.
The Economic Advancement Award focuses on programs that support the local business
community and improve the economic well-being of cities. Past winners of the award have
included the City of Orlando, the City of Gainesville and the City of Clearwater.
