SUBJECT: Motion from the LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee re: Anti-LGBTQIA+ State Laws
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Body of the unanimous motion adopted by
the LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee at the June 10, 2023 meeting.
The LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee advises the City of Miami Beach to authorize the City Attorney's
Office to file amici briefs in support of lawsuits that challenge the constitutionality of any and all anti-
LGBTQIA+ legislation enacted during the 2023 Florida Legislative session, should the opportunity to
do so arises.
Motion passage: Unanimous (9-0)
