Launch of Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Database
This Letter to Commission (L TC) provides an update on the creation and launch of a conditional use
permit (CUP) database. On September 28, 2022, the City Commission adopted Resolution 2022-32338
(Item R7 K), which directed the Administration to development and implement a comprehensive CUP
database.
This intensive process included the build-out of the webpage database, identifying physical files with
hard copies of an approved CUP, as well as scanning and uploading these files to the database. The
identification and uploading of available documents have been substantially completed and the CUP
database has been published on the City's website. The Conditional Use Approvals Dashboard (CUP
database) can be accessed via the following link: https://www.miamibeachfl.gov/conditional-use-
approvals/.
The Planning Department will continue to identify and scan some remaining older CUPs that have been
challenging to track down and add them to the database. Also, if a CUP cannot be identified or is not
accessible from the database, the public can submit a public records request. A separate link is included
on the webpage for such requests.
The creation and publishing of this database was a collaborative effort coordinated by the Planning
Department in direct consultation with the Information Technology Department. I want to acknowledge
the efforts of Carmen Sanchez, Rogelio Madan and Griselda Castellanos in the Planning Department
for direct coordination of the project. I also want to acknowledge the key support from Frank Quintana
and Tony Montes de Ocain the Information Technology Department.
This was an outstanding team effort from all involved and has resulted in an easy to access and user-
friendly database for all residents, property owners and interested persons.
