Resolution 2023-32699 RESOLUTION NO 2023-32699 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE 2019 SOUTH BEACH SEAFOOD FESTIVAL SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AND CI MANAGEMENT GROUP, INC. TO EXTEND THE AGREEMENT ONE YEAR TO CONCLUDE AFTER THE 2024 EVENT TO ALLOW FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE ORIGINAL PAYMENT SCHEDULE. WHEREAS, the South Beach Seafood Festival is an experience that showcases the talents of South Florida's leading chefs and culinary masterminds via a diverse group of events; and WHEREAS, the seafood festival benefits a great cause with CI Foundation's EAT SMART program, a program that provides healthy meals and nutritional guidance to Florida's youth; and WHEREAS, on May 8, 2019, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2019-30818, accepting the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee and taking the following actions relating to the Event: (1) approving waivers of special event fees for the 2019 Event; and (2) further approving and authorizing the City Manager and City Clerk to execute a five (5)year sponsorship agreement; and WHEREAS, the City's sponsorship funding for the Event is to be paid directly to Event Organizer, as more particularly set forth in the schedule in Section 5(b)(i)of the August 30, 2019 agreement, to offset expenses for producing and presenting the Event; and WHEREAS, the payment schedule set forth in the original agreement is as follows: 2019 - $25,000, 2020 - $20,000, 2021 - $15,000, 2022- $10,000, 2023 - $5,000; and WHEREAS, the payment schedule set forth in the proposed amendment is as follows: 2019-$25,000, 2020—No Event, 2021 -$20,000, 2022 $15,000, 2023-$10,000, 2024-$5,000; and WHEREAS, the original term of the August 30, 2019 agreement concludes after the 2023 event; and WHEREAS, the event did not take place in 2020 due to COVID-19 related impacts; and WHEREAS, in November 2020, the event organizer submitted a request to City staff to extend the agreement an additional year and resume the payment schedule as of the 2021 event; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach approve execution of Amendment No.1 to the Sponsorship Agreement, a copy of which is attached to the Memorandum accompanying this Resolution, to extend the agreement for an additional year to make up for the canceled 2020 event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No.1 to the sponsorship agreement dated August 30, 2019 between the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and CI Management Group, Inc. to extend the,sponsorship of the South Beach Seafood Festival for a period of one year, to conclude after the 2024 event, to allow for the completion of the original sponsorship schedule. SUPPORTING SURVEY DATA In the 2022 City of Miami Beach Resident Survey, 86% of residents agreed that free or City sponsored art and cultural activities contribute to their quality of life in Miami Beach and 86% of residents agreed that Miami Beach Cultural Activities (such as art shows, film festivals, musicals, and live performances)contribute to the quality of life in Miami Beach. FINANCIAL INFORMATION N/A CONCLUSION It is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the resolution to approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No.1 to the 2019 South Beach Seafood Festival sponsorship agreement between the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and CI Management Group, Inc. to extend the agreement one year, to conclude after the 2024 event, to allow for the completion of the original payment schedule.
