SUBJECT:COMMISSION MEETING DATES TO ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THE
NOVEMBER 7, 2023 GENERAL ELECTION AND, IF NECESSARY, THE
RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 21, 2023 RUN-OFF ELECTION.
In accordance with Miami Beach Code Sec. 38-4, entitled Acceptance of Election Returns;
Installation of New Officers, on the first business day immediately following the County
Supervisor's issuance of the final election results for any City General or Special Election,
the City Commission shall meet to accept the returns of such election(s) and ascertain the
results thereof.
The Supervisor of Elections has notified the Office of the City Clerk that the certification of
the official results for the November 7, 2023 General Election will be issued on Thursday,
November 9, 2023. Pursuant to Sec. 38-4, the City Commission must meet on the first
business day immediately following such issuance, to accept the General Election results.
As Friday, November 10, 2023, is the Veteran's Day holiday, the City Commission must
meet on Monday, November 13, 2023, to accept the returns of the General Election and
ascertain the results thereof.
If required, the Supervisor of Elections has notified the Office of the City Clerk that the
certification of the official results for the November 21, 2023 Run-Off Election will be issued
on Monday, November 27, 2023. The certification process for the Run-Off Election will
take longer due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday celebration that will take place on
Thursday, November 23, 2023 and Friday, November 24, 2023. Given that the certification
of official results for the Run-Off Election will be issued on Monday, November 27, 2023,
the City Commission must meet on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, to accept the returns
of the Run-Off Election and ascertain the results thereof.
A copy of the Canvassing Board Schedules is attached listing key dates for the General
and Run-Off Election, if necessary.
