Ocean Terrace Park and Streetscape Improvements Project
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the
construction mobilization and groundbreaking ceremony dates for the Ocean Terrace Park
and Streetscape Improvements Project (Project) and to provide an overview of the scope of
work to be performed.
The Developer has informed the City that the contractor will be mobilizing on Monday,
October 23, 2023. A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for Thursday, October
26, 2023. City staff will issue a project advisory to the community ahead of construction
activities.
The construction duration is approximately 16 months, with completion scheduled in the fall
of 2024. The project will improve the City's right-of-way on 73rd , 74th, and 75th Streets and
transform Ocean Terrace between 73rd and 75th Streets into a city park with pedestrian
promenade and a beach drop-off area at the 73rd Street end. The project includes the
construction of pedestrian pathways, storm drainage, hardscape, landscaping, irrigation,
lighting, signage and pavement markings, bike lane, water features, pavilion open air
structure, beachwalk and beach access.
The construction will be phased to allow continuous access to the adjacent busine sses
as well as for pedestrian traffic between 73rd and 75th Streets. The existing beachwalk
will experience detours and alternate routes while the new beachwalk is being
constructed. The Developer conducted one-on-one meetings with the stakeholders in the
immediate project area to announce the upcoming construction as well as to coordinate
continued access for their patrons.
The Office of Capital Improvement Projects will observe and review the progress of the
construction of the Project until its completion. Every effort will be made to coordinate with
all stakeholders throughout the duration of the Project.
