Historic Preservation Board Recommendations - 6/7ths vote of City Commission
to reduce the powers and duties of the Historic Preservation Board & Workforce
and Affordable Housing requirements.
At its December 12, 2023 meeting, the Historic Preservation Board (HPB) held a discussion regarding
possible City Charter amendments. As part of this discussion, the Board unanimously approved the
following motion with seven (7) members present:
The Board recommends that the Mayor and City Commission refer an Ordinance to the Planning
Board and amend the Land Development Regulations to require a 6/7ths vote of the City
Commission prior to adopting any Ordinance which, through amendment, exemption, repeal, or
otherwise, reduces the powers and duties of the City's Historic Preservation Board, or creates
less stringent historic preservation standards or regulations.
At the same meeting, the HPB held a discussion regarding the proposed Live Local Act Administrative
Review Process Ordinance. As part of this discussion, the Board unanimously approved the following
motions with seven (7) members present:
The Board recommends that the Mayor and City Commission consider applying the "Equivalent
Treatment of all Dwelling Unit Requirements" (Section 2.5.5.6 (a)) to all projects that contain a
mix of market rate and workforce or affordable housing units within the City.
