RESOLUTION NO 2023=32853
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, GRANTING MIAMI BEACH PRIDE'S
REQUEST TO WAIVE UP TO $43,000.00 IN RENTAL FEES FOR THE
USE OF PRIDE PARK ON APRIL 7, 2024, IN SUPPORT OF MIAMI
BEACH PRIDE'S FAMILY PICNIC EVENT.
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Pride brings people together to recognize and
celebrate members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ("LGTBQ+")
community, as well as their friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of the LGTBQ+
community; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Pride celebrates Miami -Dade County's LGTBQ+
community and' draws big crowds — in 2019, the Miami Beach Pride Festival drew over
140,000 attendees; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Pride 2024 will celebrate its 16-year anniversary with
expanded programming that includes an LGBTQ+ Family Picnic, scheduled to take
place at Pride Park on April 7, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the cost of renting Pride Park for the LGBTQ+ Family Picnic should
not exceed $43,000.00, and Miami Beach Pride requested for the City to waive the
rental fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby grant Miami Beach Pride's request to waive up to $43,000.00 in.
rental fees for the use of Pride Park on April 7-8,. 2023, in support of Miami Beach
Pride's Family Picnic Event.
