Beach City Hall will be bathed in orange lights starting at sundown. “It is unimaginable that 40,000 mothers, fathers, sons and daughters will be lost this year because of gun violence and that another 85,000 people will be shot and wounded,” said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber. “Unfortunately, there has been a total abdication of responsibility by most elected bodies even in the face of this unthinkable carnage.”
The lighting of Miami Beach City Hall comes at the start of Wear Orange Weekend, in which thousands of people in the United States will wear orange to honor the survivors of gun violence. Orange represents the color hunters wear to protect themselves and others in the woods. WHAT: Miami Beach Lights Up Orange WHEN: June 2, 2023 at sundown WHERE: 1700 Convention Center Drive
