A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING SPECIAL EVENT FEES, IN THE TOTAL
AMOUNT OF$5,149.50 FOR THE GROUNDUP MUSIC FESTIVAL TO BE HELD
ON FEBRUARY 2-4, 2024, AT THE NORTH BEACH BANDSHELL AND THE
ADJACENT PARK.
WHEREAS, the GroundUP Music Festival Foundation, Inc. (the "Festival Producer") is a
Florida not-for-profit corporation that produces the annual GroundUP Music Festival; and
WHEREAS, this year's GroundUP Music Festival (the "Festival")will be held February 2-
4, 2024 at the Miami Beach Bandshell and adjacent park and will feature such artists as a four-
time Grammy-winners Snarky Puppy, acclaimed by Rolling Stone Magazine as "one of the most
versatile bands on the planet,"who will play daily sets, Knower, Tarriona"Tank" ball, Louis Cole's
Huge Band, Genevieve Artadi, Chantae Cann, Lucy Woodward, Magda Giannikou, Los
Munequitos de Matanzas, Kinga Glyk, Varijashree Venugopal, Basskou Kouyate and many
others; and
WHEREAS, approximately 2,000 room nights are expected to be sold to attendees of the
Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Festival Producer has requested that the City waive the special events
fees; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve the waiver of special event
fees for the GroundUP Music Festival (or a refund of such fees in the event they have been paid
by the Event Producer prior to the adoption of this Resolution) in the total amount of $5,149.50,
comprised of the$315 application fee, $4,207.50 in square footage fees and$627.00 in permitting
fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive special event fees, in the total amount of$5,149.50 for the GroundUP
Music Festival to be held February 2-4 2024, at the North Beach Bandshell and the adjacent
park.
