A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO WAIVE ANY PERMIT
FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF A POP-UP EXHIBIT IN
LUMMUS PARK TO COMMEMORATE WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH IN
MARCH 2024.
WHEREAS, in 2020, the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) collaborated with
Dr. Lynette Long, the current Chair of the Miami Beach Commission for Women, to curate a pop-
up exhibit in Lummus Park in honor of the 100-year anniversary of women's suffrage; and
WHEREAS, this exhibit showcased ten notable women who have significantly contributed
to history, serving to highlight the invaluable role of women in shaping our society; and
WHEREAS, the exhibit:effectively communicated the message of women's historical
contributions and garnered significant engagement from the public, with attendees pausing to
read the informative "mini-billboards" and actively sharing their experiences on social media
platforms; and
WHEREAS, the MDPL has retained possession of the aforementioned mini-billboards
from the previous exhibit; and '
WHEREAS, in 2023, the Mayor and City Commission waived the permit costs and
authorized a repeat of the installation of a pop-up exhibit in Lummus Park to commemorate
Women's History Month without any financial costs to the City; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to continue celebrating Women's History Month and
recognizing the achievements of women throughout history.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ,IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND V CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and the City hereby
direct the City Administration to waive any permit fees associated with the installation of a pop-up
exhibit in Lummus Park to commemorate Women's History Month in March 2024.
