The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to provide the following motions
made during the March 5, 2024 Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BAA C") Meeting, as
presented by the Committee:

• The BMC would like to provide a $1,000 sponsorship from the BMC budget to the
Washington Avenue BID for the Muhammad Ali 6oth Anniversary Celebration event.
• The BMC would like to provide notice to the City Commission of the following events:
• Creole Festival - April 13th
• American Black Film Festival - June 14th -- 18th
• Miami Takeover - July 26th - July 29th
• Juneteenth - June 19th

• The BAA C w ould like to thank the FO O T C hief fo r granting M iam i Be ach contro l of the
causew ays because it's never been done befo re, and the C om m itt ee has bee n asking fo r
the last 3-4 years as stated in a previous L TC fr om 202 1.
• T he BAA C does not support the m essaging aro und S pring B reak 20 24 as it w as ne ver
presented to the gro up fo r feedback. T he B AA C w ill allow m e m ber M e lba Pe arso n to draft
an O p-E d on beha lf of the BAA C related to the m essaging aro und S pring B rea k 2024 and
it w ill be approved by a quo rum vote and support ed by all m em bers.
