Resolution 2024-32962 RESOLUTION NO. 2024-32962 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE ' CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, ALLOCATING A ONE-TIME GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000 FOR A WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH FILM SCREENING AT THE NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY ON MARCH 28, 2024. WHEREAS, Every March, people worldwide celebrate the achievements and history of women as part of Women's History Month; and WHEREAS, Alexis Alleyne-Caputo, an anthropologist, interdisciplinary artist, dancer, poet, writer, photographer and filmmaker, who has been contributing to the arts and cultural landscape of South Florida since 2006, requested a sponsorship in the amount of $3,000 for a film screening at the New York Film Academy on March 28, 2024 on South Beach; and WHEREAS, the film, entitled Hierarchies: Oral and Visual Testimonies is an ode to black women's solidarity, and evidences the feminist notion that the personal is political, and offers the complexity of the past in contemporary realities, through the language of art representational of struggle, hope and black women's indomitable presence. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby allocate a one-time grant in the amount of $3,000 for a Women's r History Month film screening at the New York Film Academy on March 28, 2024.
