The Blue Ribbon City Manager Search Committee established a sub-committee (Mr. Berkman, Mr.
Diaz, and Mr. Steirheim) to negotiate a fee and contract with DMG Maximus, Meetings dates and
times of sub-committee will be announced when scheduled. DMG Maximus will consolidate the
information received at the February 2nd meeting and will prepare materials for review and approval
by the Blue Ribbon City Manager Selection Committee at the February 25 meeting, In order
to gather additional information, DMG Maximus was directed to speak with the Assistant
City Managers Ms. Buttacavoli, Ms. Cuervo, Ms. Gavarrete, and Mr. Schwartz, Chief of Police
Richard Barreto, Fire Chief Floyd Jordan, City Attorney Murray Dubbin, and City Manager Lawrence
Levy,If any of the previously mentioned individuals are interested in applying for the position they
will not be asked for their input. In addition, DMG Maximus is to contact the three (3)
previous city managers, Roger Carlton, Jose Garcia-Pedrosa, and Sergio Rodriguez for
their
input.January 12. 2000 Mr. Berkman made a presentation to the City Commission. A resolution
was approved waiving the competitive bidding for a search firm and appropriated an amount not
to exceed $40,000 to cover expenses related to
the
process. The resolution was approved,January 6. 2000:First meeting of the Blue Ribbon City
Manager Search Committee. Mr. Ron Berkman was selected as the chairperson. The Committee requested that
the City Commission and members of the public attend the next meeting and profile the ideal city
manager. The Committee agreed to ask the City Commission for authorization to employ a professional
search firm and to allocate up to $40,000 to fund search related expenses, The Committee
also
agreed
that there will be no lobbying of the Committee.
