A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT THE IN-KIND DONATION OF SEVENTEEN (17) EVENT
ADMISSION TICKETS FROM AXON ENTERPRISE, INC., HAVING A TOTAL
VALUE OF $14,433, FOR USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND OTHER CITY DEPARTMENTS TO ATTEND THE AXON
WEEK 2024 CONFERENCE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY TO
BE HELD AT THE MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER.
WHEREAS, Axon Enterprise, Inc. ("Axon") is a company that provides public safety
devices, training, technology and services to law enforcement and regulatory agencies around the
world to include less lethal taser weapons, body worn cameras and software solutions employed
by multiple departments at the City of Miami Beach (the "City"); and
WHEREAS, Axon is combining both of their annual taser and technology training
conferences into one large international conference experience entitled, "Axon Week"; and
WHEREAS, Axon Week is being held at the City at the Miami Beach Convention Center
from April 22 to April 26, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Axon Week is public safety's premier technology and training conference and
will feature keynotes on the future of public safety technology, training, breakout sessions on
innovative solutions in the public safety sector as well as opportunities to connect with colleagues
and technology providers from around the globe alongside expert speakers with panels addressing
highly requested topics on public safety policy, training, crime reduction, communication, and
officer wellness among other topics; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the agreement between the City and Axon Enterprise, Inc. dated
September 27, 2019, for the purchase of Officer Safety Plan Subscriptions and products and
services, including Axon Body Worn Cameras, Conducted Energy Weapons, Axon Evidence,
Interview Room Hardware and Software, Axon is to provide the City with eight (8) event admission
tickets to the 2024 annual conference; and
WHEREAS, Axon has offered the City seventeen (17) additional admission tickets,
individually valued at $849, which have a total value of$14,433 and will be assigned to employees
from multiple departments, including Code Compliance Department, Parking Department,
Information Technology Department, Housing and Community Services Department and Building
Department whom utilize Axon technology or could benefit from operating such technology
throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the proposed donation will provide the Miami Beach Police Department the
enhanced capability to learn about and explore technological innovations hands on, impacting the
ability to better align the Police Department with Chief Wayne Jones' impending agency priorities
while directly networking with national and international law enforcement professionals to facilitate
the exchange of best practices and intelligence sharing; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission
approve and authorize the City Manager to accept this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission
hereby authorize the City Manager to accept the in-kind donation of seventeen (17) event
admission tickets from Axon Enterprise, Inc., having a total value of$14,433, for use by the Miami
Beach Police Department and other City Departments to attend the Axon Week 2024 Conference
on public safety and technology to be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

ANALYSIS
Axon Enterprise, Inc. will be hosting Axon Week - a combination of two annual Axon taser and
technology training conferences into one large international event - at the Miami Beach
Convention Center from April 22 to April 26. As such, the company would like to provide the
City of Miami Beach with 17 event tickets each with a value of$849 for a total of$14,433. The
tickets would allow personnel from departments utilizing Axon technology to attend at no
additional cost to the City.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Each Axon Week 2024 event ticket has a value of $849 which brings the total value of the
donation of 17 conference tickets to $14,433. There is no additional fiscal impact expected to
be incurred.
CONCLUSION
The Miami Beach Police Department would encourage the City Commission to consider the
Resolution and accept Axon Enterprise's donation of 17 conference admission tickets for the
technological and strategic benefit of the City.
