A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF ,THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE RELOCATION
OF SOUTH FLORIDA SENIORS IN ACTION ("SFSA") FROM SOUTH •
SHORE COMMUNITY CENTER TO CITY-OWNED SPACE AT ANCHOR
SHOPS, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A NEW. LEASE AGREEMENT WITH SFSA FOR THE
PREMISES AT THE ANCHOR SHOPS, WITH ECONOMIC TERMS
CONSISTENT WITH THOSE OF SFSA'S CURRENT LEASE
AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, South Florida Seniors in Action ("SFSA") is a non-profit agency
providing vital services to the elderly community in Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, SFSA has been a tenant at the South Shore Community Center
("SSCC") since 2018, occupying a 142 square foot space; and
WHEREAS, due to the.potential construction of Fire Station No. 1 at the SSCC
site, the Asset Management Division of the Facilities and Fleet Management Department
has proposed relocating SFSA to Unit #5 at the Anchor Shops, a City-owned space
located at 100 16th Street and Washington Avenue, offering approximately 400 square
feet, which is substantially larger than SFSA's current premises; and
WHEREAS, SFSA has expressed a favorable review of the new space at the
Anchor Shops; and
WHEREAS, the economic terms of the proposed new lease agreement for SFSA
will be the same as those in SFSA's current lease agreement for its-space at the SSCC,
i.e., $1.00 per year plus pro rata share of operating expenses, with a term of three (3)
years or until such time as the City secures an alternate location; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission authorize the City Manager to
execute a new lease agreement with SFSA for the premises at the Anchor Shops, with
economic terms consistent with those of SFSA's current lease agreement; and
WHEREAS, furthermore, the Facilities and Fleet Management Department is
authorized to make necessary improvements to Unit #5 at the Anchor Shops, which is
currently a retail space, to convert it into office space for SFSA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize the Relocation of South Florida Seniors in Action("SFSA")
from South Shore Community Center to City-Owned Space at Anchor Shops, and further
authorize the City Manager to execute a new lease agreement with SFSA for the premises
at the Anchor Shops, with economic terms consistent with those of SFSA's current lease
agreement.
