Resolution 2024-32995 RESOLUTION NO., 2024-32995 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING SPECIAL EVENT FEES AND CITY SERVICE FEES, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $20,528.37 FOR THE FLEET WEEK MIAMI 2024 "MIAMI BEACH TOP GUN BEACH OLYMPICS" TO BE HELD ON MAY 11, 2024, AT THE LUMMUS PARK SPOIL AREA BETWEEN 8 AND 9 STREETS. WHEREAS, the Broward Navy Days, Inc., the applicant/organizer for the Fleet Week Miami 2024 "Miami Beach Top Gun Beach Olympics" event, has requested a waiver of City special event fees for an event taking place in the City of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, during May 11, 2024, Broward Navy Days, Inc. will present the Fleet Week 2024 "Miami Beach Top Gun Beach Olympics" event, featuring fitness competitions for military personnel (the "Event"); and WHEREAS, the U.S. Navy accepted Miami-Dade County' invitation to host Fleet Week at the Port of Miami on May 7 — 14, 2024, the week-long event bring in excess of 800 service members to South Florida, and the primary mission will be to contribute to a growing understanding of the Navy's importance in our country's national defense. The week-long event is expected to feature both US Navy and US Coast Guard vessels to showcase military technology to the public; and approximately 800 service members to south Florida; and WHEREAS, the Festival will be held at the Lummus Park Spoil area between 8 and 9 streets; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve the waiver of special event permit fees, in the total amount of $18,875.70, which represents $18,245.70 in square footage fees, $315 in application fee, $315 in permit fees; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve the waiver of costs associated with Event-related City services, in the total amount of $1,652.67, which represents $1,504 in fees for Parks and Recreation staff for show mobile, podium, tables, chairs and tents, and $148.67 for restroom porters; and WHEREAS, the waiver approved herein shall be applied as a credit against any remaining amounts otherwise due to City, with any remaining balance, if any, refunded to the Event Organizer. • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby waive special event and city service fees, in the total amount of $20,528.37 for the Fleet Week Miami 2024 "Miami Beach Top Gun Beach Olympics" to be held on May 11, 2024 at the Lummus Park Spoil Area between 8 and 9 streets.
