A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,TRANSITIONING TO DIGITAL AGENDAS FOR CITY
COMMISSION MEETINGS, COMMISSION COMMITTEE MEETINGS, AND
RESIDENT BOARDS/COMMITTEES MEETINGS, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY
REQUESTED OTHERWISE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach acknowledges the pressing need for environmental.
sustainability and fiscal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, reducing paper consumption aligns with these goals by minimizing waste and
promoting efficient resource utilization; and
WHEREAS, transitioning from printed agendas to digital agendas will enhance
accessibility and convenience for elected officials, appointed board members, and City staff;
WHEREAS, unless specifically requested otherwise, the default shall be not to print
agendas, and all stakeholders are encouraged to rely on online published agendas through
electronic devices; and
WHEREAS, commencing from the next City Commission session, all agendas shall be
exclusively distributed in digital format; and
WHEREAS, the City shall explore partnerships with organizations to recycle printed
agendas that are no longer needed, or to reuse them as recycled paper for those who prefer
printed materials; and
WHEREAS, this Resolution is hereby enacted to reduce the amount of paper used in
printing agendas for the City Commission, Commission Committees, and resident
Boards/Committees Meetings; and
WHEREAS, be it further resolved that this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
passage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION. OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby transition to digital agendas for City Commission Meetings, Commission
Committee Meetings, and Resident Boards/Committees Meetings, unless specifically requested
otherwise.

SUBJECT: DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION, LIMIT AMOUNT OF PRINTED MATERIALS FOR
BOARDS AND COMMITTEES, INCLUDING: HARD COPIES OF AGENDAS
FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AND COST SAVING PURPOSES; AND RECYCLE
PRINTED MATERIALS.
RECOMMENDATION
In an effort to be more environmentally focused and fiscally responsible, an ordinance to reduce
the amount of paper used in printing agendas for all commission, commission committees and
board committees. Unless specifically requested otherwise, the default will be not to print
agendas and encourage elected officials, appointed board members and city staff to rely on
online published agendas through electronic devices. In addition, beginning next Commission,
all Agendas will be digital.
In addition, it could be beneficial to partner with an organization in order to recycle the printed
agendas that are no longer needed or to reuse them as recycled paper for those who would like
their materials printed.

Due to the high volume of printed materials for all boards and committee meetings and the
respective environmental implications of this continued paper waste.As well as in the interest of
spearheading increased environmental leadership from the Miami Beach City Commission.
We propose to reduce our impact through this first of many steps.
