ADMINISTRATION TO INSTALL .A TEMPORARY .CROSSWALK AT THE INTERSECTION OF . MERIDIAN AVENUE AND LINCOLN LANE TO PROMOTE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY, SUBJECT TO NECESSARY PERMITTING APPROVAL. FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS ("DPTW"),''UNTIL SUCH TIME. AS: PERMANENT CROSSWALK IS INSTALLED AS PART.OF THE LINCOLN ROAD DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, concerns have been raised 'by residents regarding pedestrian safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Lincoln Lane and Meridian Avenue; and WHEREAS, the, installation of a'stop sign and/or pedestrian crosswalk at this intersection has been identified as a potential solution to mitigate safety risks and improve traffic management; and WHEREAS, the Administration has already been working with the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation. and Public Works (" DPTW") to obtain approval for the installation of a new crosswalk at the intersection -of Lincoln Lane and Meridian Avenue, -and funding has been identified in the current budget to cover the installation costs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to direct the Administration to install a , temporary crosswalk at the - intersection :'of Lincoln: Lane and Meridian until. such time. as permanent.crosswalk.is installed as part of the,Lincoln Road District Improvement Project. ..NOW,. THEREFORE,. BE IT DULY RESOLVED, BY THE MAYOR AND CITY - COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, BEACH;- FLORIDA, that. the Mayor and City. Commission .hereby .direct the City. Administration;. to install aAemporary.. crosswalk at the intersection of Meridian Avenue and Lincoln Lane: to promote. pedestrian safety, subject to necessary permitting .approval from the Miami=Dade -County Department of Transportation and - Public Works.
