A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO INSTALL
SIGNAGE AT THE MAIN ENTRANCES TO THE PALM VIEW
NEIGHBORHOOD, CLEARLY INDICATING ITS STATUS AS A HISTORIC
NEIGHBORHOOD, AND TO IDENTIFY AND ALLOCATE FUNDS FROM THE
APPROPRIATE BUDGETARY SOURCES FOR THE DESIGN, FABRICATION,
AND INSTALLATION OF THE SIGNAGE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$75,000, AND FURTHER, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT
AND EXECUTE AN APPLICATION TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
BOARD FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SUCH SIGNAGE, IF NECESSARY.
WHEREAS, the officially designated historic Palm View neighborhood holds significant
historical and architectural value within the Miami Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the specific boundaries of the Palm View neighborhood are defined as
follows: the South side of Dade Boulevard between Lennox Court and Meridian Avenue, the North
side of 17th Street between Lenox Court and Meridian Avenue, the East side of Lenox Court
between Dade Boulevard and 17th Street, and the West side of Meridian Avenue between Dade
Boulevard and 17th Street; and
WHEREAS, clear signage indicating the historic nature of Palm View neighborhood will
enhance community awareness and appreciation for its historical significance; and
WHEREAS, the installation of such signage will contribute to the promotion of cultural
heritage and tourism in our City; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to direct the Administration to install
signage at the main entrances to the Palm View neighborhood, clearly indicating its status as a
historic neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the Administration to install signage at the main entrances to the Palm
View neighborhood, clearly indicating its status as a historic neighborhood, and to identify and
allocate funds from the appropriate budgetarysources for the design, fabrication, and installation
of the signage, and further, authorize the City Manager to submit and execute an application to
the Historic Preservation Board for the installation of such signage, if necessary.
