Miami Beach Police Department Public Safety Specialist Graduation and
Hiring Update
This Letter to Commission (L TC) serves to inform you of an upcoming graduation ceremony for
seven (7) new Public Safety Specialists (PSS) who have successfully completed a 10-week in-
house training academy. This ceremony will occur on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in
the Major James Smith Community Room on the first floor of the Miami Beach Police Department
located at 1100 Washington Avenue.
These graduates represent a portion of the ten (10) PSS positions approved by the Mayor and
Commission during the Fiscal Year 2024 budget process. In addition, three (3) PSSs are set to
commence their training in the in-house academy on July 1, 2024. This initiative will expand our
Police Department's PSS cadre from five (5) to fifteen (15) members.
