A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF
THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE, AT ITS
OCTOBER 16, 2023 MEETING, TO DIRECT THE CITY ADMINISTRATION
TO INCLUDE FUNDING IN THE FY 2025 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS BUDGETARY PROCESS FOR THE DESIGN AND PERMITTING
WORK FOR A NEW ICONIC ENTRANCE SIGN ALONG THE WEST
ENTRANCE OF THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY, CURRENTLY ESTIMATED
TO BE IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000.00.
WHEREAS, at the July 26, 2023 City Commission meeting, the Commission adopted
a referral by then Vice-Mayor Ricky Arriola (item C4 S) to the Finance and Economic
Resiliency Committee (FERC) to discuss funding an iconic entrance sign for the Venetian
Causeway; and
WHEREAS, on October 16, 2023, the members of FERC unanimously recommended
that the item be heard by the full City Commission with a favorable recommendation for the
City Administration to simultaneously include funding for the design of an iconic entrance sign
at the Venetian Causeway as part of the FY 2025 Capital budgeting process; and
WHEREAS, as part of the FY2025 Capital Improvement Plan, the Facilities
Management Division of the City's Facilities and Fleet Management Department has
requested funding, in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00), reflecting
the estimated costs associated with the design and permitting work for a new iconic entrance
sign, to be located in the existing swale area on the southwest corner of the Venetian
Causeway Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Finance and Economic Resiliency
Committee, at its October 16, 2023 meeting,to direct the City Administration to include funding
in the FY2025 capital improvement projects budgetary process for the design and permitting
work for a new iconic entrance sign along the west entrance of the Venetian Causeway,
currently estimated to be in the amount of$100,000.00.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission approve the Resolution.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
On July 26, 2023, the Mayor and City Commission adopted a referral by then Vice-Mayor Ricky
Arriola(item C4 S)to the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee(FERC)to discuss funding
an iconic entrance sign for the Venetian Causeway.
On October 16, 2023, the members of the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee
unanimously recommended this item be heard at City Commission, recommending funding in the
amount of one hundred thousand dollars($100,000.00)for an iconic entrance sign at the Venetian
Causeway as part of the FY 2025 Capital budgeting process. During a recent analysis of FERC
budget recommendations, it was identified that this is one of the items that should be brought to
Commission for acceptance of the recommendation.
ANALYSIS
The Facilities Management Division has included a request for one hundred thousand dollars
($100,000.00)as part of the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Plan budget process. This represents
the estimated costs associated with the design and permitting work for a new iconic entrance
sign, to be located in the existing swale 'area on the southwest corner of Venetian Causeway
Park.
FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT
The fiscal impact for the design and permitting of a new iconic entrance to be located at the
southwest corner of Venetian Causeway Park is $100,000.00.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Funding for this request is being considered for the FY 2025 capital budget.

Based on the foregoing, the Administration recommends the Mayor and City Commission adopt
the resolution to include funding as part of the FY 2025 budget in the amount of one hundred
thousand dollars ($100,000.00)for an iconic entrance sign at the Venetian Causeway.
