Resolution 2024-33130 RESOLUTION NO. 2024-33130 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO JOIN THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ("FDOT"), OTHER MUNICIPALITIES AND TRANSIT AGENCIES IN CELEBRATING THE NINTH ANNUAL"MOBILITY WEEK"THAT WILL TAKE PLACE BETWEEN OCTOBER 25, 2024 - NOVEMBER 2, 2024 BY HOSTING EVENTS TO PROMOTE TRANSPORTATION CHOICES, HIGHLIGHT TRANSPORTATION ACHIEVEMENTS, AND/OR INTRODUCE NEW INITIATIVES OR POLICIES. WHEREAS, Mobility Week is a cooperative effort by the Florida Department of Transportation and its partner agencies to promote awareness of safe multimodal transportation choices by hosting an annual collection of outreach events; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an ideal time for counties, cities, and transportation agencies to highlight achievements, introduce new initiatives, and implement new policies promoting sustainable transportation; and WHEREAS, during Mobility Week, partner agencies across the state will host events and offer special promotions to encourage Floridians to explore new and active transportation options; and WHEREAS, since 2016, more than 1,000 Mobility Week events have been held statewide, including group bike rides, bike helmet fittings, commuter travel events, safe walking trainings, transportation workshops, and community experiences; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is also an opportunity for individuals to explore the various transportation choices available to them and think about how multimodal transportation reduces traffic congestion, benefits the environment and improves community health; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is consistent with the City of Miami Beach's key priorities of promoting safe multimodal transportation choices. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to join the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT"), other municipalities and transit agencies in celebrating the ninth annual "Mobility Week" that will take place between October 25, 2024 - November 2, 2024 by hosting events to promote transportation choices, highlight transportation achievements, and/or introduce new initiatives or policies.
