Palm View resident Joe Tom Easely died on February 3,2022.To quote the Washington Post,
Mr.Easely was "a prominent gay rights activist and lawyer involved in the repeal of the 'don't
ask, don't tell'policy that discriminated against gays in the military and whose wedding in 2003
was among the first same-sex marriages featured in the New York Times ..."
The Palm View Neighborhood Association believes that Joe Tom Easely's life and commitment to
gay rights would be rightfully memorialized in Pride Park.In addition to his work repealing
"don't ask, don't tell",Mr.Easely served many for years in gay rights leadership positions
including co-chairman of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, president of the
Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and co-chair of Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.
Mr.Easely is survived by his husband Peter Feiberg who remains a Palm View homeowner,
resident, and member of our association.Mr.Frieberg welcomes the opportunity to advise this
effort as appropriate.
Thank you for your service to the Palm View residents and the City of Miami Beach.
