Resolution 2024-33215 RESOLUTION NO. 20 2 4 - 3 3 2.. 1 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AWARDING A $5,500 SPONSORSHIP TO CITY OF MIAMI BEACH EMPLOYEE ANTWAN TERRY TO ALLOW HIM TO CHEER ON HIS DAUGHTER, TWANISHA "TEETEE" TERRY, A HOMEGROWN TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE WHO ATTENDED NAUTILUS MIDDLE SCHOOL, BY ATTENDING THE 2024 SUMMER OLYMPICS IN PARIS. WHEREAS, Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry is a homegrown athlete from Miami who attended middle school at our very own Nautilus Middle School, high school at Northwestern Senior High School, and college at the University of Southern California where she honed her track and field abilities; and WHEREAS, TeeTee has earned two World Athletics Championship gold medals as part of the U.S. Women's 4x100 meter relays at the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships; and WHEREAS, at the age of 19, TeeTee ran the 100 meter in 10.99 seconds, becoming the joint fourth fastest under-20 woman in history; and WHEREAS, TeeTee will be representing Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, to compete in the women's 4x100 meter relay and 100 meter races for Team USA; and WHEREAS, TeeTee's ties to Miami Beach run strong as her father Antwan Terry is a long- time member of the City of Miami Beach family, having worked in the Parking Department and is now with the team at Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS,'the City of Miami Beach wishes to support Mr. Terry in cheering on his daughter as she competes in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris by awarding him a $5,500 sponsorship to cover travel expenses; and WHEREAS, this sponsorship serves as a testament to the City's commitment to celebrating and supporting the achievements of its employees and their families;. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach hereby award a$5,500 sponsorship to City of Miami Beach employee Antwan Terry to allow him to cheer on his daughter, Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry, a homegrown track and field athlete who attended Nautilus Middle School, by attending the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
