LTC 359-2024 City of Miami Beach Recognized by NAFA Green Fleet AwardsMIAMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER LTC# 359-2024 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission FROM: Eric carpenter, City Manager 8i,;c., � DATE: August 21, 2024 SUBJECT: City of Miami Beach Recognized by NAFA Green Fleet Awards The purpose of this Letter to Commission ("L TC") is to provide the Mayor and City Commission with an announcement recognizing the City of Miami Beach with the Green Fleet Award and Most Improved Fleet Award by the National Association of Fleet Administrators ("NAFA"). NAFA is the world's largest membership association for individuals who manage the vehicular fleet and mobility responsibilities for their employers. NAFA propels the fleet and mobility profession through its world-class certification, education, advocacy, and peer-networking programs. It is an essential element of success for individuals involved in the profession. NAFA members control more than 4.8 million vehicles and manage assets in excess of $122 billion. These vehicles travel more than 84 billion miles annually. NAFA's Green Fleet Awards (www.nafa.org/awards/green-fleet-awards/green-fleet-awards-2024/) is open to both government and commercial fleets in North America. Government fleets consist of all federal, state, and local government fleets, including fleets that are operated by local government personnel or contracted services. The Green Fleet Award is a comprehensive set of criteria specifically tailored around the challenges and requirements of fleet professionals. Judging criteria includes dedicated alternative fuel and hybrid vehicle composition, fuel usage, fuel savings, purchasing policy, long-range planning, and other areas. On August 13, 2024, the City of Miami Beach Fleet Division was ranked 22 nd among the Green Fleets in North America. This honor was announced at NAFA's 2024 Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference & Expo in Durham, North Carolina. The program recognizes peak-performing fleet sustainability efforts and honors fleets who have enhanced practices to make a positive impact on the environment. This annual honor recognizes organizations that execute groundbreaking and inventive programs for their green initiatives. The City of Miami Beach was also bestowed the honor of the Special Recognition Award for Most Improved Fleet in the nation. Ranking among the top Green Fleets in North America three years in a row is a testament to our commit ment to excellence and efficiency. Through strategic initiatives, the Fleet Management Division has implemented sustainable solutions, capital planning for greener fleet, and procuring fuel-efficient vehicles to enhance the level of service provided to the City's user departments. The Green Fleet Award and the Most Improved Fleet Award are much deserved and great achievement.
