LTC 380-2024 Police Citizens Relations Committee MotionsMIAMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER LTC#380-2024 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission Rafael E.Granado,City Clerk ~ September 4,2024 Police/Citizens Relations Committee Motions The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC)is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the following motions passed by the Police/Citizens Relations Committee at their September 3, 2024 meeting: Members present: Seth Feuer,David Adams,Lisa Cole,Alexander Fryd,Christine Klingspor, Joanna-Rose Kravitz,James Koutoulas,Lizette Lopez,Mark Muhlrad,Samuel Rabin,Jill Shackett,Mark Weithorn,Troy Wright Members absent: Mark Brill,David Adams MOTION 1:That the LTC prepared by the Police/Citizens Relations Committee's Budget Advisory Subcommittee regarding budget concerns be approved and issued. Motion by:Mark Weithorn Motion Seconded by:Jill Shackett Motion passes:Unanimously 12-0 MOTION 2:That the City of Miami Beach,in reference to the Washington Avenue: 1.Allocate Funding for Regular Maintenance:Provide financial assistance to cover the costs associated with the regular operations,and maintenance of the lighting system in the median,to ensure all lights are fully operational and effective. 2.Contribute to Lighting Enhancements:Support the upgrade of the existing lighting system by investing in more energy-efficient and brighter lighting options,and by expanding the lighting coverage in areas identified as under-lit or in need of improved safety measures. 3.Collaborate with the Washington Avenue BID:Work closely with the BID to identify specific areas that require attention and to ensure that all enhancement efforts align with the broader goals of improving safety,beautification,and community satisfaction.
