Upcoming Consumer Price Index Parking Fee Increases
The purpose of this Letter to Commission ("L TC") is to advise the Mayor and City Commission ("City Commission") that, on October 1, 2024, pursuant to Ordinance No. 2019-4299 adopted by the City Commission on September 25, 2019 (Attachment A), Parking Fees are slated to increase as set forth in the Parking section of Appendix A -Fee Schedule of the City of Miami Beach Code of Ordinances (Attachment B).
Said Ordinance provides for adjustments by the City Manager to certain specified fees and charges to reflect increases in the Consumer Price Index ("CPI"). Appendix A indicates the frequency of the CPI adjustments by marking with an [A] those fees earmarked for annual adjustments and marking with an [F] those fees with adjustments to be effectuated every five (5) years, with the first five (5)-year adjustment scheduled to occur on October 1, 2024. On May 15, 2024, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2024-4619 (Attachment C) which standardized the rate structure for all parking garages in anticipation of this five (5) year rate increase.
