NATIONAL PARKS SERVICE'S RIVERS, TRAILS AND CONSERVATION
ASSISTANCE (RTCA) GRANT APPROVAL NOTIFICATION
We are pleased to inform you that the City of Miami Beach has been selected for assistance from
the United States Department of Interior, National Parks Service under the Rivers, Trails and
Conservation Assistance (RTCA) Program to develop the Indian Creek/Collins Canal Recreational
Corridor Master plan and design guidelines for the corridor.
As per the attached correspondence notifying us of the award, the initial meeting with RTCA staff
will tentatively be arranged in the latter part of October, immediately following the establishment
of the National Parks Service FY 1999 budget.
The approval of this assistance is significant as it will enable the City and the community to jointly
plan a recreational corridor that provide miles of leisure access from the northem entrance of Indian
Creek all the way to the southwest return into Biscayne Bay at the Venetian Causeway.
We will keep you apprised of the project's progress and schedule.
