SUBJECT:Production Industry Council Motion -September 17,2024
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("LTC")is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of a
motion passed by the Miami Beach Production Industry Council ("PIC")during their Thursday,September
17,2024,meeting.
At the meeting,Council members heard a presentation by the White Elephant Group (WEG),a South
Florida-based collective of emerging filmmakers,for a possible film commissioning program.The
collective has exhibited nationally,internationally,and distributed films and media projects via online
VOD,theatrical release,and national television broadcast.WEG has also screened and exhibited work
at film festivals around the world including numerous Academy Award-qualifying film festivals such as
the Tribeca Film Festival,and the Slamdance Film Festival.
MOTION:Motion to approve the proposed partnership program with WEG,titled 'The Miami Beach Short
Film Lab,"by providing $25,000 in funding from the City's Film Incentive.The program should include the
commissioning of four (4)short films,filmed exclusively in Miami Beach,and screened at a community
event in Miami Beach.Additionally,the program to feature workshops with the filmmakers,panel
discussions,and more.
Motion was moved by Igor Shteyrenberg and seconded by Aleksandar Sale Stojanovic.Motion passed
unanimously (6-0).

LaBuzetta,Aleksandar Sale Stojanovic,Josh Blaze,and Jessica Londono.
