RESOLUTION NO. 2024-33272
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CONSENTING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF
VINCE SEIJAS, AS THE BUILDING DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH.
WHEREAS, the City Manager has appointed Vince Seijas, as the Building Director for the
City of Miami Beach (the "City"); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Seijas has over a decade of local governmental experience regarding the
Florida Building Code and Floodplain Management Provisions; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Seijas has extensive experience in managing and supervising various
private and governmental renovation projects throughout Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Seijas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International
University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Seijas holds a State of Florida license as a Building Code Administrator,
Building Inspector, Roofing Inspector, General Contractor, and other relevant building/flood-
related licenses and certifications; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Seijas was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps
where he served from 1997 to 2005 and received numerous medals, awards, and letters of
accommodation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.02(b) of the City Charter, the City Manager has the
power to appoint the directors of City departments, except for the Legal Department and the City
Clerk's Officer, with the consent of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to consent to the appointment of Vince
Seijas as the Building Director for the City of Miami Beach, Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby consent to the appointment of Vince Seijas as the Building Director for the
City of Miami Beach.

TITLE: A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CONSENTING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF VINCE
SEIJAS, AS THE BUILDING DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
RECOMMENDATION
Pursuant to the requirements of Article IV, Section 4.02 of the City Charter, it is recommended
that the Mayor and the City Commission adopt the attached resolution consenting to the
appointment of Vince Seijas as the Building Director for the City of Miami Beach.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Mr. Seijas has worked for over a decade in local government in the capacity of the Building
Inspector and senior code officer for Miami-Dade County, as well as Building Official and
Floodplain Administrator for the City of Doral. He also has an extensive career in construction
project management for private and government renovation projects, such as the Calder Race
Track remodel and various Jackson Memorial Hospital remodels, to name a few. Mr. Seijas has
various State of Florida licenses as a Building Code Administrator, Building Inspector, Roofing
Inspector, Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain Manager and
General Contractor, among other relevant building &flood-related licenses and certifications. Mr.
Seijas is the recipient of the 2024 Building Official of the Year award from the Building Official
Assocation of Florida (BOAF). Additionally, he was recognized as the Building Official of the Year
in 2021 and 2022 by the South Florida Building Official Association (SFBOA).
From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Seijas served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably
discharged with numerous medals, awards, and letters of accommodation. He holds a Bachelor
of Science degree from Florida International University, as well as completing other educational
programs and certifications. Mr. Seijas is a certified member of the Association of State
Floodplain Managers, the Building Officials Association of Florida, and the South Florida Building
Officials Association.
