Mayor Meiner and Commissioners,
The Palm View Neighborhood Association supports the C4 G referral to Committees:
C4 G:PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO
DISCUSS POSSIBLE AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 54,ENTITLED "FLOODS,"
ARTICLE 111,ENTITLED "RESILIENCE STANDARDS FOR TIDAL FLOOD
PROTECTION"TO ENHANCE ENFORCEMENT MECHANISMS FOR PUBLIC
SAFETY AND QUALITY OF LIFE.
Palm View is bordered by the Collins Canal which has flooded our neighborhood streets for years during
high tide events. We appreciate the recent City support to remediate some sea wall and storm drain
issues. We encourage the City to review and enhance short-term and long-term enforcement
mechanisms to address public safety and quality of life concerns related to tidal flooding.
Sincerely,
Chris Gloede
