A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING A SMALL SPACE WITHIN A CITY-
OWNED FACILITY, SUCH AS THE FIRST-FLOOR BUILDING OF CITY HALL,
FOR THE USE OF CITY EMPLOYEES AS AN IN-HOUSE FITNESS AREA,WITH
USEFUL GYM EQUIPMENT, MATS, FREE WEIGHTS, JUMP ROPES, AND
OTHER BASIC FITNESS AMENITIES TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
FOR CITY EMPLOYEES AND IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to promoting the health and lifestyle
wellness of its employees, recognizing that a healthy workforce leads to increased productivity,
reduced absenteeism, and enhanced overall well-being; and
WHEREAS, both the Miami Beach Police Department and Fire Department have wellness
and fitness spaces in their respective facilities, allowing the employees the opportunity to maintain
physical fitness in a convenient and accessible environment; and
WHEREAS, providing similar wellness amenities for all City employees will offer them the
opportunity to exercise before or after work hours, reducing the stress of commuting especially
during peak traffic times and fostering a healthier work-life balance; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission seeks to designate a space within a City-owned facility,
such as a first floor space to serve as a dedicated fitness area for employees, equipped with some
gym equipment, mats, free weights, and other fitness amenities; and
WHEREAS,this fitness space can contribute to employees'overall physical health, mental
well-being, and morale, aligning with the City's broader health and wellness initiatives; and
WHEREAS,funding for the equipment, maintenance, and operation of this wellness space
may be drawn from a variety of potential sources; and
WHEREAS, the availability of this wellness space will serve as a valuable incentive for
current and prospective employees, enhancing the City's reputation as an employer that
prioritizes a healthy lifestyle of its workforce.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that: the Mayor and the City
Commission hereby designate a small space within a City-owned facility, such as the first-floor
building of City Hall, for the use of City employees as an in-house fitness area, with useful gym
equipment, mats,free weights,jump ropes, and other basic fitness amenities to promote a healthy
lifestyle for City employees and improve their quality of life.
