SUBJECT: Miami Beach Police Athletic League and Miami Beach Police Department
Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway Event
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform and extend an invitation to the Mayor
& City Commission to attend the Miami Beach Police Athletic League's and the Miami Beach Police
Department's Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 8:00 A.M. until
approximately 12:00 P.M.
Each year, through the generosity of the Miami Beach community (private citizens, local
businesses, civic organizations, and the LGBT Visitors Bureau among others), funds are donated
to the Miami Beach Police Athletic League (PAL), a registered 501 (c)3 organization, to acquire
toys for the giveaway event. The Miami Beach Police Department then partners with PAL to pack
and deliver the toys to 400 registered Miami Beach children at their residences within the city. This
year, the 400 families registered in person at the Miami Beach Police Headquarters and the North
Substation by providing government identification, proof of government assistance and proof of
Miami Beach residency (if the address was not listed on the provided identification).
On December 14, 2024 beginning at 9:00 A.M. in front of the police department, officers from the
Miami Beach Police Department and volunteers from the United States Marine Corps Reserve
Unit from the 4th Civil Affairs Group in Hialeah will begin loading police cars with toys. The officers
will then hand deliver the toys to the registered families throughout the morning.
The holiday toy giveaway is a special moment for both the police officers who take time out of their
day to volunteer and for the child receiving the only toys they may get this holiday season. The
PAL has set out on a mission to cultivate a positive relationship between law enforcement and the
community's youth. The toy giveaway is a perfect example of a bonding experience that will then
turn into a core memory for the child and hopefully lead to a positive outlook on the officers who
protect and serve the community daily. The joy this event brings to the children makes the
giveaway extremely rewarding and worthwhile for all those involved.
Donations are accepted and more information can be found on the PAL's website at
www .beachpal.org.
