We note with appreciation the proposals put forward for by Commissioners Rosen
Gonzalez and Dominguez to promote beautification of Ocean Drive.Without
commenting on the specific merits of these proposals,we observe with concern that so
little progress has been made beautifying any aspect of our most celebrated street.
This fiscal year's budget includes funding for tree lighting on the west side of Ocean
Drive.It is time to move forward as expeditiously as possible on that project.
We also note and strongly support item R9 AC:TO DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION:develop and
issue request for proposals for the construction and operation of a Padel facility on one of
the surface lots abutting Lincoln Lane.Based on what has been experienced in our
metropolitan area and elsewhere,this will attract a high-end social-and health-oriented
clientele to Lincoln Road,rather than just more restaurants and retail.
These two items form significant pieces of the overall program to make the ADCD more
attractive and enjoyable for residents and supportive visitors alike.
