A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CONSENTING TO THE
APPOINTMENT OF DAVID A. GOMEZ AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE
OFFICE OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, David Martinez, the former Director of the Office of Capital
Improvement Projects, has been appointed Assistant City Manager, creating a vacancy
in the department; and
WHEREAS, on April 2024, David A. Gomez was appointed interim director of the
Office of Capital Improvement Projects; and
WHEREAS, David A. Gomez brings over 30 years of expertise in architecture,
construction management, and capital improvement projects, with extensive experience
overseeing large-scale initiatives in both the public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS, David A. Gomez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and History
from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has contributed to numerous
successful projects. including the North Beach Oceanside Park and Beachwalk, Collins
Park Garage, Pride Park, Mid -Beach Recreational Corridor, Grapeland Water Park, and
multiple airport facilities; and
WHEREAS, David A. Gomez is recognized for his innovative problem -solving skills
and commitment to enhancing public spaces, establishing himself as a distinguished
leader in construction and urban development; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to consent to the appointment
of David A. Gomez as the Director of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects for the
City of Miami Beach, Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby consent to the appointment of David A. Gomez as the Director of the
Office of Capital Improvement Projects for the City of Miami Beach.

MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CONSENTING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF DAVID A.
GOMEZ, LEED AP, AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
Pursuant to the requirements of Article IV, Section 4,02 of the City Charter, it is recommended
that the Mayor and the City Commission adopt the attached resolution consenting to the
appointment of David A. Gomez, as the Director of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects for
the City of Miami Beach (the "City").
David A. Gomez, LEED AP, brings over 30 years of experience in architecture, construction
management, and capital improvement projects. With a strong background in overseeing large-
scale public and private -sector initiatives, he has consistently demonstrated leadership in
managing complex projects from concept to completion. His expertise includes supervising
diverse teams of consultants, contractors, and government entities to deliver high -quality
outcomes on time and within budget.
Since April 2024, as Interim Director of Capital Improvement Projects, David leads the execution
of major capital projects, supervises professional teams, and ensures effective project
management for initiatives like parks, urban corridors, and community centers. In previous roles,
he served as Division Director for 6 years and Senior Capital Project Coordinator, focusing on
design and construction management, and contributed significantly to enhancing Miami Beach's
urban environment.
Before joining the City of Miami Beach, David held leadership positions in the private sector,
including Project Manager at Recreational Design and Construction, where he oversaw the
development of recreational facilities, sports complexes, and environmental projects. He also
worked as a Project Architect at PBS & J and Zyscovich, Inc. contributing to significant aviation
and government projects, including Miami and Fort Lauderdale International Airports.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and History from the University of North Carolina
at Chadotte. His career portfolio has included numerous successful projects, such as the North
Beach Oceanside Park and Beachwalk, Collins Park Garage, Pride Park, Mid -Beach Recreational
Corridor, Grapeland Water Park, and multiple airport facilities. Known for his innovative problem -
solving skills and dedication to improving public spaces, David is an accomplished leader in the
field of construction and urban development.
