A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO CONDUCT AN EMERGENCY HEAD COUNT
OF UNHOUSED INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
AND REPORT ITS FINDINGS TO THE FULL CITY COMMISSION VIA
LETTER-TO-CITY COMMISSION WITHIN THIRTY (30)DAYS OF THE
ADOPTION OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS,the City of Miami Beach recognizes the ongoing challenges faced by
unhoused individuals within its jurisdiction and the importance of obtaining accurate and
up-to-date data to inform effective policy-making;and
WHEREAS,the City is committed to addressing homelessness as a critical issue
that impacts the health,safety,and well-being of both its unhoused population and the
broader community;and
WHEREAS,Miami-Dade County conducts a comprehensive head count of
unhoused individuals throughout the County twice a year,in January and August,while
the City of Miami Beach performs its own counts in focused areas where unhoused
individuals are likely to gather;and
WHEREAS,an emergency head count of unhoused individuals is necessary to
assess the current scope of homelessness in the City and to ensure the alignment of
resources and services with the needs of this vulnerable population.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,hereby direct the
Administration to conduct an emergency head count of unhoused individuals within the
City of Miami Beach and report its findings to the full City Commission via Letter-To-City
Commission within thirty (30)days of the adoption of this Resolution.
