SUBJECT:Miami Beach 2025 Black History Month Events
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC)is to announce the City of Miami Beach's
special events celebrating Black History Month.These events are produced by the City
through the Parks and Recreation and Tourism and Culture Departments.
The following events will take place over the month of February:
Event:Movie in the Park
Date:February 1,2025
Time:6:00 p.m.(sundown)
Location:Altos Del Mar Park (241 77 Street)
Fee:Free
Bring your blankets and enjoy a fun night under the stars watching the feature film
Wakanda Forever (rated PG).Complimentary popcorn will be distributed while supplies
last,and refreshments will be available for sale.
Event:Black History Night Celebration
Date:February 7,2025
Time:6:00 p.m.--9:00 p.m.
Location:North Shore Park Youth Center (501 72'Street)
Fee:$5 fee (includes rides,crafts,entertainment,and more)
The Parks and Recreation Department invites you to celebrate Black History Month by
recognizing the heritage,accomplishments,and culture of African-Americans and the
Black diaspora.Enjoy cultural performances from the City's after-school participants,
entertainment,rides,food,crafts,and more.Admission is free,and refreshments will be
available for sale.Tickets can be purchased beginning January 24 by visiting
register.miamibeachparks.com.
Event:Soul Vegan &Seafood Food Festival
Date:February 8,2025
Time:1 :00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Location:Lummus Park ("h_7th streets on Ocean Drive)
Fee:Free
In partnership with The Hungry Black Man,LLC,the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation
Department will host the "Soul Vegan & Seafood Festival"on Saturday,February 8 from
1.00 p.m.to 6:30 p.m.at Lummus Park,between 6th and 7th streets.The festival is South
Florida's foremost urban centric plant-based food,spirit,and wellness celebration.The
event features plant-based African-American and Caribbean dishes created by talented
chefs from across the nation,activities for children,live entertainment and more.This
event will attract Miami Beach residents of all ages along with eager foodies of the

surrounding communities.Everyone is invited to sample their way through a
mouthwatering selection of 100%plant-based dishes.Entry to this event is free.Food and

Committee present "Never Drop the Ball"film screening

The "Never Drop the Ball"documentary discusses the extraordinary journey of how Black
baseball players built the brand of baseball out of segregation into a worldwide pastime.
Featuring documentary film and panel discussion with Dr.Dorothy Jenkins Fields and
baseball historian Abel Sanchez.

Garden Groove

Close out Black History Month in style with an exciting celebration of Black dance music
deep inside Miami Beach's Botanical Garden.OnStage!Miami Beach and Public Energy
bring you a special night featuring a live set by PAPERWATER and amazing selections
from Duality,Pressure Point,and DJ Dluxe.Expect an eclectic mix of footwork,Baltimore
house,jungle,juke,and more with a live-streamed broadcast by Jolt Radio throughout the
whole evening.
Guests can also explore creative activities,including customizing their favorite clothing at
the Grizzly Print Parlor and taking high-quality portrait sessions by Giana Currie's After-
