SUBJECT:HISPANIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MOTION
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC)is to inform the Mayor and City
Commission of the following Motions passed by the Hispanic Affairs Committee at their
January 16,2025 meeting:
•Members present:Elba Machado,Gustavo Briand,Julian Linares and Natasha
Fernandez
•Members absent: Carmen Datorre and Rosary Plana Falero
•Staff Present:Leonor Hernandez,Committee Liaison
MOTION:
Motion to support the placing of the bust of Don Jose de San Martin,Liberator of
Argentina,Chile,and Peru,at the plaza of the Normandy Fountain,in North Beach.
Motion made by Gustavo Briand
Motion seconded by Julian Linares
Motion unanimously approved by all members present.
MOTION:
Motion to support the opening,as soon as possible,of the South Shore Community
Center Senior Lunchroom at 833 6"Street,given the fact that there is currently funding.
This center will provide food for 100-150 seniors.

Motion unanimously approved by all members present.
MOTION:
Motion to create awareness and advocate for free and fair democratic elections in
Honduras and for a Resolution from the City of Miami Beach to be sent to Senator
Marco Rubio and United States Representative Maria Elvira Salazar.

Motion unanimously approved by all members present.
