Resolution 2025-33478RESOLUTION NO. 2025-33478 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO INSTALL SEAT DIVIDERS, IN A MANNER THAT IS AESTHETICALLY CONSISTENT WITH THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT AND DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THE OVERALL APPEARANCE OF THE AREA, ON THE FOUR SECTIONS OF THE WALL THAT COMPRISE THE CIRCULAR ROUNDABOUT ALONG THE BEACHWALK AT LINCOLN ROAD, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000, IN ORDER TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM LYING DOWN, AND INSTEAD, TO PROMOTE ITS INTENDED PURPOSE AS A SEATING AREA. WHEREAS, the circular roundabout on the Beachwalk at Lincoln Road is an area designed for pedestrian use and community engagement, including seating for residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, the absence of seat dividers on the walls comprising the roundabout has resulted in individuals using the walls to lie down, thereby impeding others from using the space for its intended purpose; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach seeks to maintain a welcoming and functional public space that promotes proper usage and ensures access for all; and WHEREAS, the installation of seat dividers would deter individuals from lying down while maintaining the usability of the area for sitting, thus enhancing the comfort and accessibility of the space for residents and visitors. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby directs the City Administration to install seat dividers, in a manner that is aesthetically consistent with the surrounding environment and does not detract from the overall appearance of the area, on the four sections of the wall that comprise the circular roundabout along the Beachwalk at Lincoln Road, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, in order to prevent people from lying down, and instead, to promote its intended purpose as a seating area.
