Resolution 2025-33485RESOLUTION NO. 2025-33485 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION -OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE AD HOC PERMITTING PROCESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE SUPPORTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE WALK-THROUGH PILOT PROGRAM INITIATIVE AND DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THIS INITIATIVE AS SOON AS REASONABLY PRACTICABLE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach recognizes the critical importance of a streamlined, transparent, and efficient permitting process for the continued growth and development of the city; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission established the Ad Hoc Permitting Process Advisory Committee in February 2024 to evaluate and recommend improvements to the City's permitting process, particularly in enhancing the capacity and service levels for Miami Beach residents; and WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc Permitting Process Advisory Committee has completed its review and, after careful consideration, recommended through a motion made by the Committee -at their December 17, 20204 meeting, that the City implement a walk-through pilot program initiative to allow certain eligible permit applicants to complete the permitting process more efficiently and in person by submitting applications and receiving approvals on a same -day basis, thereby reducing delays and expediting project timelines; and WHEREAS, the implementation of the walk-through pilot program initiative would provide an expedited permitting process for specific types of permits, thereby improving service delivery, enhancing customer satisfaction, and helping to support timely development and construction projects; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires that the Administration implement the Committee's recommendation and believes that the walk-through pilot program initiative will contribute to a more efficient permitting process, benefiting both residents and businesses while maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and quality standards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Permitting Process Advisory Committee supporting the implementation of the walk-through pilot program initiative and direct the Administration to take all necessary steps to implement this initiative as soon as reasonably practicable.
