A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.2024-33395,
WHICH SET THE 2025 MEETING DATES FOR THE CITY COMMISSION,
MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (MBRDA), AND NORTH
BEACH COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (NBCRA) MEETINGS,
BY ADDING A FINAL BUDGET HEARING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2025.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.04 of the Miami Beach City Charter, the City
Commission shall meet at such times as may be prescribed by ordinance or resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk recommends that when preparing the City Commission
meeting calendar, the City Commission take into consideration the following events: U.S.
Conference of Mayors; Art Basel; August recess; September to set the tentative/final
millage and budget approval; November/December for election/runoff election meetings (if
it is an election year); Spring and Winter school breaks; Federal Holidays (Attachment A);
and Religious Holidays (Attachment B and C); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 2022-4541, the presentation of proclamations,
awards, certificates, and all other recognitions made by the Mayor and City Commissioners
shall only occur at separate regularly scheduled meetings of the City Commission
specifically dedicated for these purposes, which presentations and awards meetings shall
be scheduled to take place every other month to the extent possible, or on such other dates
as the City Commission may determine at its discretion, provided that at least six (6)
presentations and awards meetings are scheduled each year; and
WHEREAS, no other business may be conducted at Presentations and Awards
meetings; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk suggests that when scheduling the 2025 City
Commission, Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency (MBRDA), and North Beach
Community Redevelopment Agency (NBCRA) meeting dates, the City Commission
accomplish four goals: 1) schedule, when possible, one City Commission meeting a month;
2) schedule, if possible six separate Presentations and Awards/Commission meetings per
year (six are being proposed); and 3) not schedule Commission meetings during August,
while the City Commission is in recess; and
WHEREAS, the General Election is scheduled for November 4, 2024, with the City
Commission's acceptance of the results anticipated on November 10, 2024. If a Run -Off
Election becomes necessary, in accordance with the newly adopted amendment to the City
Charter, it will be held on December 9, 2024, with the Commission's acceptance of the
Run -Off results expected on December 15, 2024; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 38-4(b) of the City Code, if a Run -Off Election is
required, any Commission meetings occurring between the General Election and the final
acceptance of the Run -Off election results shall be limited to accepting the returns of the
General Election and addressing emergency matters, as permitted by Florida law and
Section 2.05 of the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, on November 11, 2024, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
2024-33395, which set the 2025 meeting dates; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has received confirmation from the Department
of Revenue that the final budget hearing can be held on September 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has considered this update and wishes to
incorporate this date into the approved schedule of City Commission meetings for 2025;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby amend Resolution No. 2024-33395, which set the 2025 meeting dates
for the City Commission, Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency (MBRDA), and North Beach
Community Redevelopment Agency (NBCRA) meetings, by adding a Final Budget Hearing
on September 30, 2025.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The Office of Management and Budget had notified the City Clerk that they had received
confirmation from the Department of Revenue that the final budget hearing could be held on
September 30, 2025.
The City Clerk requests that the City Commission consider this update and incorporate this date
into the approved schedule of City Commission meetings for 2025.
