LTC 086-2025 Art in Public Places Committee Motions - February 182025Docusign Envelope ID:DC5AB7CC-4FC3-4B36-BACC-B4A1142EC689 MIAMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK Lrc#LETTER TO COMMISSION TO:Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission row.Rafael E.Granado,City Clerk [G@@st DATE:February 21, 2025 SUBJECT:Art in Public Places Committee Motions -February 18,2025 The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC)is to provide an update regarding motions made during the February 18,2025,Art in Public Places (AiPP)Committee meeting. 1.Six (6)shortlisted artists presented their proposals for an integrated art element in Bayshore Park at the Tuesday,January 28,2025,Art in Public Places Committee meeting:Ivan Depena,Dara Friedman,Mark Handforth,Richard Hudson,Michele Oka Doner,and R&R Studios.The Committee requested a subsequent round of proposals to be presented for consideration from the following artists:Richard Hudson,Michele Oka Doner,and R&R Studios. Motion:The Art in Public Places Committee motions to allocate the full $300,000 public art budget at Bayshore Park for a singular sculptural element in the park's Entry Plaza.Artists Richard Hudson,Michele Oka Doner,and R&R Studios will be invited to share a final proposal for the AiPP Committee to select from in a future meeting. The above motion was made by Steve Berke,seconded by Sara de los Reyes,and passed unanimously. 2.Following revisions to the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program,prospective applicants must undergo review with the Art in Public Places Committee after presenting their work to Tourism & Culture staff.The first review is conducted to verify the artisanal nature of the items they wish to sell.Current applicants shared a physical demonstration of the production of their works and showcased finished examples for consideration.Cultural Affairs staff relayed this information along with images to the AiPP Committee. Motion:The Art in Public Places Committee motions to approve the following applicants to the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program:Ekaterine Khuchua (BLPL#2024-09537),Jose M. Giraldez Ramos (BLPL#2024-09549),and Maria Marchese (BLPL#2024-09556). The above motion was made by Sara de los Reyes,seconded by Steve Berke,and passed unanimously. Members in attendance:Chair Nick D'Annunzio,Vice-Chair Steve Berke,Jacqueline Goldstein,Colette Mello,and Sara de los Reyes.
