Welcome to the West Ave Neighborhood Association (WAvNA)
Based on resident input at the Jan 6 and Feb 10 WAvNA meetings,we have taken the following
positions:
Subject:WAvNA Resolution,Homeless Shelters
Attn:Mayor and Commissioners
RE:Prohibit Homeless Shelters
WAvNA supports zoning ordinances that prohibit suite-hotels,bed &breakfast,hostels,and hotels
in residential neighborhoods from converting into makeshift homeless shelters.
There are thirteen low end suite-hotels scattered throughout our neighborhood whose price point
could easily accommodate more tenants from the Homeless Trust.We urge the commission to
take quick action and not allow this to happen.

RE:Oppose 1250 West Ave Up-Zoning,PB24-0703/PB24-069 March 4th
At the January 6th WAvNA meeting,a vote by show of hands was taken regarding the 1250 West
Ave proposal to increase height and FAR in exchange for community benefits.Of the 102

residents attending,98 opposed this increased height and FAR.Two residents supported it.Two
residents were neutral.
The members gave strong arguments against up-zoning towers along West Avenue stating:We
were promised Five Park would be the last tower.We do not want our neighborhood to look like
downtown Brickel.It will push out the middle class and working class.
Therefore,WAvNA stands by our original resolution to support as-of-right development and not
set precedent on West Avenue since several condominiums may come into play for developer
take-over,including 1250,1228,and 800 West Avenue.
