A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF $5,000 TO AYUDA,
INC.TO CONTINUE PROVIDING ART CLASSES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
RESIDING AT STELLA MARIS HOUSE.
WHEREAS,AYUDA,Inc.,is a community-based non-profit organization in Miami Beach,
Florida,established in 1977,dedicated to serving vulnerable populations,including senior
citizens;and
WHEREAS,through a small $5,000 grant from the Miami-Dade County Department of
Cultural Affairs,AYUDA has been able to provide frail,sedentary seniors residing in Stella Maris
House,located at 8638 Harding Avenue,Miami Beach,with eight weeks of biweekly two-hour
art classes;and
WHEREAS,these art classes have had a profound impact on participating seniors,
enhancing their mental,physical,and social well-being;and
WHEREAS,the final class,scheduled for March 13,2025,will conclude with an
exhibition showcasing the seniors'artistic masterpieces,yet the demand for continued classes
remains high;and
WHEREAS,although AYUDA is actively pursuing additional grants to sustain this vital
program,new funding will not be available until the next fiscal year,leaving a gap that threatens
the continuity of these beneficial classes;and
WHEREAS,the City of Miami Beach recognizes the importance of fostering arts and
cultural engagement for senior citizens and seeks to support programs that enhance their
quality of life;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission hereby authorize a grant of $5,000 to
AYUDA,Inc.to continue providing art classes for senior citizens residing at Stella Maris House.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize a grant of $5,000 to AYUDA,Inc.to continue providing art
classes for senior citizens residing at Stella Maris House.
