A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,URGING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO HONOR THE
LATE LONGTIME CLERK OF COURTS HARVEY RUVIN BY NAMING THE
NEW DOWNTOWN COURTHOUSE FACILITY AFTER HIM IN ORDER TO
PRESERVE HIS MEMORY AND TO IMBUE THE NEW FACILITY WITH MR.
RUVIN'S WELL-KNOWN AND WELL-DESERVED REPUTATION FOR
EXCELLENCE AND INTEGRITY IN SERVICE TO THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
JUDICIARY.
WHEREAS,longtime Miami Beach resident and Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts
Harvey Ruvin passed away in the evening of December 31,2022,at his home surrounded by his
wife and family;and
WHEREAS,Mr.Ruvin graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
from the University of Florida in 1959.In 1962,he received his Juris Doctor from the University
of Miami Law School;and
WHEREAS,Mr.Ruvin was first elected to public office in 1968 at the age of 30,serving
as Mayor of the City of North Bay Village.In 1972,he was elected to the Metro Dade County
Commission,where he served as a Commissioner for twenty years,focusing on environmental
and technology issues;and
WHEREAS,in 1992,Mr.Ruvin was elected to the Office of the Miami-Dade County Clerk
of the Courts.He was re-elected five times,leading the ballot in 2016 with the largest vote total
in South Florida's history;and
WHEREAS,over the course of Clerk Ruvin's career he has been the recipient of several
prestigious awards and achievements and was widely known for his reputation of excellence and
integrity in service to the Miami-Dade County judiciary;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission urge Miami-Dade County to name the new
downtown courthouse facility after Mr.Ruvin in order to preserve his memory and to imbue the
new facility with Mr.Ruvin's well-known and well-deserved reputation for excellence and integrity
in service to the Miami-Dade County judiciary.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City Commission hereby urge
Miami-Dade County to honor the late longtime clerk of courts Harvey Ruvin by naming the new
downtown courthouse facility after him in order to preserve his memory and to imbue the new
facility with Mr.Ruvin's well-known and well-deserved reputation for excellence and integrity in
service to the Miami-Dade county judiciary.

LATE LONGTIME CLERK OF COURTS HARVEY RUVIN BY NAMING THE
NEW DOWNTOWN COURTHOUSE FACILITY AFTER HIM IN ORDER TO
PRESERVE HIS MEMORY AND TO IMBUE THE NEW FACILITY WITH MR.
RUVIN'S WELL-KNOWN AND WELL-DESERVED REPUTATION FOR
EXCELLENCE AND INTEGRITY IN SERVICE TO THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
