A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA,APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ELIGIBILITY OF MIAMI
TAKEOVER,LLC TO APPLY FOR A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,000
FROM THE MIAMI BEACH VISITOR AND CONVENTION AUTHORITY (VCA).
WHEREAS,the Miami Takeover is produced by the WK&F Group and VP Productions
Travel annually in Miami Beach,during the month of July;and
WHEREAS,since its inception in 2007,this signature weekend has created a unique
travel niche for young urban professionals,and taste-makers who "takeover"South Beach and
Miami for a weekend of celebrations and networking;and
WHEREAS,attendees also have the opportunity to give back to the community by
participating in two community outreach projects:a beach clean-up and a dental screening for
kids at the Overtown Youth Foundation;and
WHEREAS,the City of Miami Beach's current funding guidelines restrict Special Event
Sponsorship applicants from applying for any other City of Miami Beach funding outlet,including,
but not limited to the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (VCA),unless directed and
approved by the Mayor and City Commission;and
WHEREAS,as a recent recipient of a Major Special Event Grant awarded by Miami Beach
Tourism and Culture Department,Miami Takeover is currently unable to access a potential grant
of $31,000 from the VCA despite being an annual recipient of grants from VCA since 2021;and
WHEREAS,the Event Organizer believes that obtaining approval to access these
additional funding streams would significantly enhance the scope and quality of their event;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve and authorize the eligibility
of Miami Takeover to apply for a grant from VCA in the amount of $31,000.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA that the Mayor and the City hereby
approve and authorize the eligibility of Miami Takeover,LLC to apply for a grant in the amount of
$31,000 from the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (VCA).
