A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH,(1)AUTHORIZING A ONE-TIME INCREASE IN CITY
SPONSORSHIP OF MIAMI BEACH PRIDE 2025 BY $16,914.42 AND (2)
AUTHORIZING A WAIVER OF UP TO $8,084.58 IN RENTAL FEES FOR THE
USE OF PRIDE PARK ON MARCH 29,2025,IN SUPPORT OF MIAMI BEACH
PRIDE'S FAMILY PICNIC EVENT.
WHEREAS,Miami Beach Pride brings people together to recognize and celebrate
members of the lesbian,gay,bisexual,and transgender ("LGBTQ")community,as well as their
friends,allies,and supporters in celebration of the LGBTQ community;and
WHEREAS,Miami Beach Pride celebrates Miami-Dade County's LGBTQ community and
draws huge crowds with increased revenue to the City and its businesses;and
WHEREAS,Miami Beach Pride 2025 will celebrate its 17-year anniversary with expanded
programming that includes an LGBTQ Family Picnic,scheduled to take place at Pride Park on
March 29,2025;and
WHEREAS,the Picnic will feature multiple bounce houses,outdoor games,fun activities,
face-painting and craft activities for all the family to enjoy,as well puppy adoptions by The
Humane Society of Miami;and
WHEREAS,the cost of renting Pride Park for the LGBTQ Family Picnic should not exceed
$8,084.58,and Miami Beach Pride requested for the City to waive the rental fees;and
WHEREAS,Miami Beach Pride has also informed the City that its Pride Festival and
Parade,which will take place on April 4-5,2025,is operating with a $100,000 deficit this year due
to inflation,increased other costs,and unexpected challenges with sponsorships for this year's
Event;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission wish to take the following steps:(1)
authorize a one-time increase in City sponsorship of Miami Beach Pride 2025 in the amount of
$16,914.42,and (2)authorize the waiver of up to $8,084.58 in rental fees for the use of Pride
Park on March 29,2025,in support of Miami Beach Pride's Family Picnic Event.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby (1)authorize a one-time increase in City sponsorship of Miami Beach Pride
2025 by $16,914.42 and (2)authorize the additional waiver of up to $8,084.58 in rental fees for
the use of Pride Park on March 29,2025,in support of Miami Beach Pride's Family Picnic event.
